Curtis Millender Booked Against Belal Muhammad at UFC 236

Mere days removed from a loss, Curtis
Millender
has taken a fight on less than one month’s notice to
face Belal
Muhammad
at UFC 236.

First
reporting this news was Farah Hannoun
late Thursday, announcing
that Millender (17-4) and Muhammad (14-3) will be squaring off at
UFC 236 on April 13 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Millender
previously competed and suffered a defeat at the hands of Elizeu
Zaleski dos Santos
at UFC Fight Night 146 on March 9.

Millender was tapped out in the first round by Zaleski dos Santos
several days ago, snapping a 9-fight win streak dating back to 2015
that included wins over Thiago Alves
and Siyar
Bahadurzada
. Prior to his signing with the
Ultimate Fighting Championship
, Millender became the first male
fighter and second fighter overall in the
Legacy Fighting Alliance
to finish multiple opponents with head
kicks (Sabina
Mazo
).

Muhammad is also coming off a loss of his own, dropping a decision
to Geoff
Neal
at UFC Fight Night 143 in January. A durable fighter who
has only been finished once — by Vicente
Luque
at UFC 205 — Muhammad has reached the scorecards in all
but five of his career bouts, including each of his last five
inside the Octagon. Prior to his loss to Neal, he picked up wins
over the likes of Tim Means and
Jordan
Mein
in a four-fight win streak.

UFC 236 will take place on April 13 at the State Farm Arena in
Atlanta. Headlining the event will be an interim lightweight
championship battle between featherweight champ Max
Holloway
and former foe Dustin
Poirier
. Co-headlining the event will be another interim title
fight, at middleweight between the unbeaten Israel
Adesanya
and “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 17 winner Kelvin
Gastelum
.
